Helsinki Underground is a series photographed for brand eins magazine and Neue Zürcher Zeitung exploring the underground heat and cold water supply of Finnland's capital as well as the civil shelters and bunkers that create a multi layered network beneath the lively city's surface. As Helsinki is built upon granite its geological properties are perfect for using the rock structures to efficiently store and distribute water throughout the year. Recipients of this temperature regulating water are private homes, businesses and larger buildings alike.
